Pebble Beach Golf Links is an 18-hole championship course located on the California coast near Carmel. Designed by Jack Neville and Douglas Grant, it opened in 1919 and is consistently ranked the No. 1 public golf course in America. The course plays to a par 72 and features distinctive oceanside holes, particularly holes 4-10, which run along the Carmel coastline. The layout is characterized by small greens averaging just 3,500 square feet and 118 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Notable signature holes include the par-3 17th with its iconic hourglass-shaped green, and the par-5 18th finishing hole, considered one of golf's most famous. The par-3 7th and par-4 8th are also renowned for their dramatic ocean views and challenging play. Pebble Beach has hosted six U.S. Opens, most recently in 2019, and the first U.S. Women's Open in 2023. It will host seven future major championships. The course hosts the PGA Tour's AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am annually since 1947. The terrain tests golfers with sloping greens, ocean hazards, cliff-edge positioning, and elevation changes, making it exceptionally demanding despite its public access status.
