Akenza Golf Resort is a recently opened 18-hole, par 72 championship course measuring 7,150 yards from the back tees, located on the Route d'Ourika approximately 10 kilometres south of Marrakech, Morocco, at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains. It is the newest addition to the Marrakech golf scene, having opened in 2025, and takes a distinctly desert aesthetic inspired by the arid landscapes of Arizona rather than the parkland style of most of its Marrakech counterparts.
The course has been designed around the natural terrain of the site, with tees set among Sahara-like sands and fairways bordered by natural dry riverbeds — known as oueds — that shift with the seasons, ensuring conditions vary from round to round. The defining structural feature is a sequence of eight holes requiring carries over rugged, yawning canyons, making it as much an adventure as a conventional golf test. Dramatic elevation changes and multiple strategic lines to the green create constant risk-and-reward decisions throughout, and the course rewards careful course management and precise shot-making over power alone. The par-5 18th is a particularly notable closing hole — a sweeping dogleg with water running the full length of the right side.
As a very new facility, the course is still maturing, with vegetation and infrastructure continuing to develop. The Atlas Mountains provide a constant and striking backdrop, and the resort's overall identity is built around the contrast between raw desert landscape and championship-quality playing surfaces.
